The Amber Brewery in Bielkówko near Gdańsk has been brewing since 1994. They gained nationwide recognition with their groundbreaking Żywe beer, which was the first widely available and stable unpasteurized beer. At one time, Koźlak in a unique, painted bottle also caused a sensation. Today, the brewery’s portfolio is wide, starting with non-alcoholic beers, through traditional lagers, seasonal bocks, a range of different styles within the After Hours series, and ending with Barley Wine with herbs, brewed for the brewery’s 30th anniversary.
Baltic Porters are a very important item in the Amber Brewery’s offer. The best known is the Grand, brewed for many years and widely available, which is proof that Baltic Porter in the lower range of the style (18,1) can also be full of flavor. There is also a version with added chili, and the brewery releases stronger porters seasonally, such as Woodside – an Imperial Baltic Porter (26 Plato) with the addition of oak chips and cocoa husk. They also caused quite a stir when they recently released a Non-Alcoholic Baltic Porter. Together with the Wolny Kraft association, they also created a website about Baltic Porter.
